Sunspots on my hood

My hood is totally faded from the sun. How do you sand it? I wanna sand it down and put some coats of primer on it till I can paint it?

Depending on the condition of your hood, I would leave it alone until you are ready to prime AND paint. Just leaving primer on the hood could cause problems in the long run. Primer is designed to be porus, and will let moisture get to the metal surface, then causting rust...bad very bad...

If you do go the primer route, at least use a sealer-primer. Even some cheap paint over the primer to hold you would be better than just primer. I really agree with foz though, don't do this until you are ready to paint, unless you are starting to get surface rust, then definatley take care of the rust asap.

I agree with Blue502, on using some sealing primer, but I kind of disagree with painting standard primer with spraypaint, you might have to strip/re-prime later, because spraypaint sometimes is not friendly to other paints...I say sometimes...

hey! i have graduated to "FOZ!" woo hoo I am so happy.

If you have not figured it out "okfoz" is my last name backwards"

I used to be called "ZOF!" when I played sports in Highschool...

:sillylol: When I said cheap paint over the primer I wasn't thinking rattle can, I was thinking more like Deltron Enamel or something
