Sponge soundproof/waterproof tape?

I am redoing my interior and weatherstripping and there is some spongy tape used for insulation or waterproofing that is basically falling off. Being that it seems to be covering holes that allow a LOT of road noise to come in I'd like to get something (other than duct tape which fell off in 2 weeks) to cover the holes.
Who sells this stuff and what's it called?
Thanks a lot for the help

Try someplace like Home Depot first, if not there, maybe an automotive paint store.

Isn't there a special name for it or something?

i use some stuff called "canopy tape" its black, i think its like 15 feet long and it varies in thickness. i got the 1/4" stuff and its about 1.5" wide. the bottom is sticky, the middle is foamy, and the top has a very smooth texture.

you could also go to a local car stero shop and get "dynamat" or their equivalent.....its sound deadning material.....its what everyone who knows how to build a stereo system uses to stop rattling.......its super easy to install and works like a charm
