door coming apart

door coming apart

the outer skin on the top of my drivers side door is coming apart!!. next to the mirror it looks like a weld broke?? any ideas??....thanks

There is not much you can do except have it welded back together or go to a junkyard and get another door. For now you have to cover the opening and not let water get in there or the door will begin to rust from the inside out, not to mention how the water will damage your door internals.

Find a new door that is straight and with the same options your current one has. Welds will have a tendency to crack again, either in the same place or around the edge.

$25 down here in Everett, WA at the Pull A Part. Plus $3 core. They had an '87 drivers side down there yesterday. Great condition, no dings.

I didn't notice you were in Vancouver. The U-pull It at 111th and Foster in Portland had a few doors a couple of weeks ago, and the other U-pull Its around should too (there is one in Vancouver too). Come over to the Cascade Crew board and say Hi!
