rear trunk latch
Yes, it was a common factory option. Get the switch and wiring out of a wrecked car. You'll also need the relay and switch for the pulldown motor. A bit of work, but nothing horrendous. The spot in the console should be marked already from underside. Just cut open the hole with a dremel or something.

You'll also need the solenoid from the donor car as well. I took an easier route and swapped the entire hatch pull-down assy from a coupe into my 'vert. But it appears the solenoid will just bolt onto the hatch pull-down assy. For those that don't know, convertibles lack the solenoid trunk release since we have the tonneau release button in that spot instead. I snagged the trunk release button from a early 80's Caprice which is in the glove box and put it in the center console. Lon
I used to have that oh so cool pull down trunk latch on my T/A...Til the biatch caught on fire. From that point on, just slamm-o the trunk. The power pop trunk ive never had problems with though...happy searching.
Hey lonsal, you could have just mounted a factory deck release switch into the rear window wiper switch position.
If I ever get a teal '92 Z convert like I want, that is what I plan on doing.
