The Very Best Adhesives

Since there are different types of materials in our cars, one adhesive will not work for everything. What are the best adhesives for:

ABS PLASTIC
RUBBER
CARPET
VINYL
METAL

I've had very good luck with JB weld, but it sucks having to mix it up.

I guess it depends on what your trying to do and for what

for carpet to a hard surface, or a headliner to the board I would recommend using some sort of spray adhesive. There is 3M 77 which is nice because you can reposition it, but it does not seem to hold as well as the 3M90 which is not re-positionable. There is also headliner spray that can be bought at some upholstery material suppliers which works well, but it seems to clog up the sprayer.

If you want 2 hard surfaces like metal to plastic, you will probably need some sort of epoxy, or JB weld. You will need to look at the label to determine if it is compatible with both your materials.

metal to metal is a welding or screw together thing, you can epoxy but I am not sure how long it will last.

If your doing plastic to the same type of plastic, you will almost have to research this one because there are different methods for every type of plastic out there.

does that help?

John

I would have to say the best adhesive ihave used would be PL Premium. I work for a construction company and the only thing that it doesn't stick to very well would me MAKITA tools plastic. I use it for sub boxes redoing my hedliner the only down point is that it takes to long to Dry
