Overhead lamp

My car was missing a over head lamp so I went to the 'yard and pulled out a over head unit with the map lights and was wondering if I could install it without modifacation.

there are 2 types I can think of, one has the whole console, the other there are just the 2 map lights.

I think you might have to run a ground wire for the map lights, I have not taken one apart, but you might need to run a "hot" wire up there use zip ties and tie it to the existing wires.

If you have the full console out of a salvaged car then you will have to cut some holes in your headliner, and run the wire as well...

I think thats all there is to it...

Even if he has the one with just the dome and map lights, and the car originally had just a dome, he's going to have to cut the headliner. When I changed my headliner, board and all, and went to put in the map/dome light assembly, I was like wtf is wrong here?

Kinda sucked cutting a perfect headliner, but it came out ok.

I did not know if the hole was any larger or not, since I have not taken apart my SC headliner as of yet to ****** the dome light.. I thought it might be the same, because the overhead console used the same hole back there as the normal dome light...

On headliners with the map lights, the hole in the headliner comes forward more. If you look at the front of the map lights, there's a metal tab that sticks out.
