Sub-Frame Connectors

Hi,

I'm looking to have sub-frame connectors installed on my 91 RS. First, is there one particular brand that you would recommend? I definitely want to go with the weld-in variety. Second, does anyone know of a good/reputible shop in the metro Atlanta area that would do this work?

Thanks for your help
Scott

Subframe connectors

I think HPM makes subframe connectors for our car. Give Motorsport Depot a call...402-274-3831
Hope this helps.

Another vote for Steve Spohn Products. I just got my LCA's, LCA relocate brackets and SFC's. Since he only makes them for F-bodies, he is the authority of the product. Plus, they cost probably less then any of the others, even though he has 4 piece connectors as opposed to 3

I got SSM "South Side Machine" Sub frame Connectors, and am happy with them...

Thanks for the input! I would like to go with Spohn but they are re-tooling their shop and it may take a while to get them.

Does anyone know of a shop in Atlanta that will install them? Do you think the dealer would if I had NO other options?

I really want to stiffen the car. It is a 91 RS that only has 15,000 miles but creaks like my old knees!!

I'm not really sure if a dealer would do welding. If they did, it would probably be really expensive. I would try to find a local guy who does work out of his garage. Any exp person w/ a MIG could do it. Hang out at the local drag strip one night and you should find someone who knows a good welder.

Man, I thought I got lucky with my 3rd bird. 15K miles!!! Damn that's low. Mine just turned 40K, and it creaks alot also. W/O SFC, you will start to see stress cracks in the upper corner where the top rt of the window (driver side) meets the roof. My 89 had pretty long ones on both sides. If you are looking to ever by a 3rd gen, that is the first thing that you should check. That is why I promised myself that I would not do one single mod until the SFC's are in place.

SSM are also good, but I think that they still only come as a package with the LCA's that have solid bushings. I've driven in cars w/ them before and it is a bit rough for my taste. Plus, they are non adjustable (Correct me if I'm wrong) so if you lower the car, and the front of the LCA is lower than the rear you will get a bunch of wheel hop.

Check the availibilty w/ spohn. I ordered mine about 2 1/2 weeks ago and got them last Saturday.

My ssm sfc's came by themselves, nothing else I think I paid something like $150 for the pair from Summit. The only thing I was dissapiointed about was they were unpainted, so I powder coated them...

I have been impressed with Global West's version.

i have a stock 92 RS with T-Tops(creak,creak,creak)

i went to the website, and there is dual cat and single cat, i have a single cat, so i would take that, and they are only $155? i dont need no gloss, i dont care about that, and i just get those and weld those in correct? what else do i have to get? this is a completely stock car(cept i got some new edlebrock headers, and the borla stainless steel exhaust that is going in)...

any input would be appreciated...

That's correct. If you are looking for more stuff to stiffen up the chassis, get a hold of a strut tower brace and a wonder bar. Global West I know carries the wonder bar and their are several out there for the strut tower brace. I would recomend a 3 point Strut brace rather than 2. I have a Kenny Brown.

Hey BoostedGTA,

I'm going to be out in the Kissimmee area for a tournament around the 22nd of March. Can you recommend some cool places to hang out.

graebz28,
Do you happen to have Global West's web address or Phone #?

Yeah, I emailed em to see if this is still the case. Mid march is not far off, but I hate to wait. Anyone have some pics of their SFC's in red powdercoat - maybe that will convince me they are worth the wait????
