92 Firebird Convertable Top

I know this is probably not the brightest question I will ask, but I just purchased this 92 Firebird Convertable, and I cannot get the top to drop down far enough to close the cover over it. I have been unable to read anything that pertains the the correct method of folding the bows. I would be interested in a link or an answer to the correct proceedure. It is up about 8 or 10 inches too high. I discoverd that the middle bow has to be pushed back (it springs) in order to clear the rear seat belt stansion's, but from there on it just does not want to compress. I do not want to force it, and bend or snap anything. Help. I am sure it is simple, but I am not having much luck.. Thanks David.

The problem is the rods that connect the #2 bow to the frame are broken or missing. Two local Members with 'verts suffered the same symptoms. I manufactured new "Flip Rods" and have them available for sale. They are a direct drop-in replacement for the pieces that you are missing. These are made from the same gage material as the OEM ones and are heat treated to help prevent bending them. Included in the kit is new nylon washers and black oxide plated nuts. E-mail me if you are interested in purchasing a set. I can also send you a copy of the installation instructions (in Adobe Acrobat format) that I include with the kit. Good luck, Lon.
