Im looking at buying a 84 firebird thats sat for a bout a year. one of the main problems is the two front seats wont move forward and back. they both recline just fine though. could it jsut be they are a little rusting and need a good hard push to make them move?

 

Take the seat out and turn it over. You'll see what the problem is then. Just 4 bolts to remove with a 13 mm wrench, less than 5 minutes and they are out. Lon

 

In 84 they didnt even have seats that moved back and forth. Theres a little handle on the steering column that moves the steering wheel and pedals closer to you.

I had the same problem with my passenger side seat on my 84 S/E.

I took it out and flipped it over. The wire from the lever to the release arm on the track was off. I had to reconect it. Good as new.
