Is this a good deal
I need new door bushings and pins in my GTA because the drivers door is F***ing up my ground FX. I went to a local body shop and the owner said that he woud do it for about 80 bucks per door for parts and labor. The only kit that I have found is 64.95 per door, so I think it's a good deal. Has anyone looked into what it would cost in your area?
If they are going to do a decent job and fix the UPPER and lower hinges, then it sounds like a real good deal. If they are just gonna replace the pins and bushing in the lower hinges then you are getting ripped off majorly.
(A new upper hinge is like $60. A new lower pin and bushings is like $6 per door.) I had a shop tell me $50 for the lower hinges and I told them NO!

If my door is rubbing the ground fx does that mean that my upper hinge needs replacing? Do most people replace both or does one wear out before the other?
Chances are that if the lower hinge is wore out enough that the door is rubbing the ground effects then the upper hinge is also pretty worn.
Since it would only cost about $6 I would first replace the pin and bushing on the worst door and see if it is acceptable. If so, then you'll need to buy a GM Door Spring tool (about $8 maybe) to put the spring back in the door. Then you could do the other door (another $6). If would cost a total of about $20 to rebuild both lower hinges.
If you change the lower pin & bushings and the door still has play and sags then you'll need upper hinges (you can't just buy pins and bushings from GM or a parts store). Someone on this board has developed replacement upper pins and bushing but they cost about $65 per door.
