interior plastics repair

Some of my interior trim panels have scratches in them, especially the ones that wrap around the back by the hatch (the one with the little storage box and the one that covers the spare tire). Any tips on how to either minimize or remove these scratches?

Use a dish scrubbing sponge and scrub lightly... it'll wear them down a little, but it also wears down the texture. Follow up with armorall.

Armorall, Drew? Yuck. That stuff will kill your plastics. It will make them scratch easier and also make them brittle. Armorall draws out the natural oils. The oils then dry up or get wiped off. That's why you need to constantly reuse the stuff. Never use armorall on a car you plan on keeping. Use it just before you sell. It's like that color match wax. Put it on just before the car gets traded in. After the first wash, all the flaws are visible again.

I've been using armorall since 1992 without any bad effects. If you follow the instructions to the T and use a little common sense it works fine. All it does is give a gloss, and to an extent it soaks in, but you need to let it soak overnight to really work well.

I used 600-800 grit sandpaper to get the scratches out of that
panel I bought from you Andrew. Worked pretty good. I finished up painting all the panels last night. You can see pictures in my post in the forum...
