ATTN: "SS" hood owners.....
I just got the call....My hood will be here tomarrow. How much fitting and shaving did it take for the hood to fit right? Im hoping that I can bolt it right on, being that me present hood is trashed.thanks-Rock
you have no replys because nothing is "bolt-on" no matter what you do, the more you get into this hobby the quicker you'll relize that even true gm parts sometimes need some work.
if you really need the answer try searching, but in most cases the hoods are often raw forms that are quite unfinished. check with your body shop, if they can't make it fit or if it is too off return it right away for another......often times there are no hoods exactly alike in the aftermarket.
good luck.

John,
Where did you order the hood from, ASCD directly?? I'm thinking about getting that hood also, great choice man!! If you don't mind me asking, what was the price of it, and shipping also?? Thanks, and good luck with your hood, you'll love it!! BTW, I came across a guy here in NJ with that hood on his third gen, and he said he had absolutely no problems with his installation, but Kandied91Z is right, with anything mass produced from any type of mold, along with any type of body shifting that may have occured in your car, there is always the possibility of something not fitting just right. When you do install it, make sure you have plenty of time, and TONS of patience!!!! Good Luck

my big block hood from ascd fit perfectly and installed in about thirty minutes. the hardest part was lining up the bolts and keeping everything aligned, and if thats not a problem for you (i was working outside at night w/no light) then you'd get done quicker.
Well I refused the hood,it was damaged. I didnt order directly from ASCD. I got it through Thunder racing. I did a little more searching and found places that sell them for 20 bucks less than thunder has advertised. I really dosent matter cause if you link thunder from this site you get a 10% dicount for using thirdgen.org. So...price of the hood 459.00$ and shipping 131.50$ to Long Island NY.
I realize that nothing is going to fit exactly. I wanted to know how much work it would take to fit right, thats all.
