swaping gauge cluster

I have an 84 Trans AM and was woundering if I could change over to 85+ gauge cluster. I believe my speedo is cable driven, are the newer ones are electric. How do I go about doing this.

You'd have to rewire your entire dash with the 85 harness
and then tie your 84 into the 85, unless you have lots of time reading the shop manual for 84 and 85 to guide you
or let a pro-fessional do it?????

well, you should be able to swap in a cluster from any 82-89 that has the cable speedo, and ou should be fine, but it has to be an automatic, becaue the manuals had electric driven speedometers.
