Rear hatch decklid leaking

Just got back in town a couple of weeks ago and getting around to fixing some problems with my '91 Z and this leak is the next subject... When it rains, occasionally it will leak inside of the trunk area. I'm sure it's coming from the rear decklid on the outside of the hatch. Anybody out there with experience in this area, please help me out. Is it as simple as removing the interior trim panel, rear spoiler and then that decklid? What type of sealant is best to use? Standard RTV? I haven't really looked at it much, but am planning to hopefully fix it this weekend. Thanks for any help...

I worked for quite a few hours trying to determine where my leak was originating (hit and miss until you find it). In my case, a piece of weather stripping at the bottom of the hatch near the tail light was loose and water somehow worked its way under the stripping into the car. A bit of weather stripping adhesive and all was cured.
