Simple solution to the C5/TT2 wheel issues
I know some of you have been following this thread on the clearance issue with Torque Thrust II (TT2) wheels and the fitment of C5 brakes:
https://www.thirdgen.org/forums/brak...-c5-brake.html
I know some guys have had to clearance the calipers or something along that line. To each his own but I prefer to come up with solutions that minimize any work along that line. Most of you have seen or heard of the C5/LS1 combo kit and it seems like the easiest solution to this fitup issue. It's still very tight against the spokes but the setup fits the TT2s like a glove. The wheel Mongoose (Mike) let me borrow is a 17x8" wheel with +8mm offset. I can't recall the BS on it but I think it was 4.5" or so. It cleared the sides with no problems and had a little over 1/4" to the spokes. I'm thinking that AR can give wheels with different offsets and such but with the numerous clearance issues with the wheels maybe it is the same with all wheels based on the center piece. I offer the whole LS1/C5 setup or any part to complete it. Here's the pics.

Let me know if you guys have any questions on it. Thanks!

That's gonna depend on a few things like springs and such, Mike's car is hella low on cut Sportlines. We did another fitup today using the LS1 setup and a C6 caliper and it looks oh so sweet, I'll post the pics when I get them off the camera.

Re: Simple solution to the C5/TT2 wheel issues
well what is the "standard" specs on a 17x8" TT2 wheel for our car? is the one mentioned above a special custom wheel? I'd like to get the TT2s in 17x8 and 9.5 but have a deeper lip in the rear. even if its not much as long as its something. I figure I can deduct for the thickness of the C5 rotor plus maybe another 1/8" or so and if its too much then I can always run those factory spacers they had on the rears to bring the wheel out ifit rubs. Re: Simple solution to the C5/TT2 wheel issues
The two wheels used in these test fits are 17x8" and are the ones listed by American Racing as direct fits for 3rd gens. The wheel in the pics above has a 4.75" backspace with a +8mm offset while the wheel used yesterday (which are on my car) have 4" backspace with a -11mm offset which gives a nice, wide lip and helps the wheel/tire fill out the wheelwell nicely.
As soon as Ed can get a price figured out and the package to switch from my C4s to the C6/LS1s put together we'll get them swapped over and have some pics for all to see.
As for running the 9.5" on the rear I'm thinking of switching up to that size for the rear sometime down the road and after doing the math and taking measurements I came up with 5.5" backspace and the same -11mm offset as the 8"s I have now. That would keep the wheel clear and keep the same look all around. Shouldn't have any clearance issues due to the rear discs either as I'm running 1LEs on the rear.
