I don't mean to pollute this thread, but I want to do the C5 upgrade.

I am currently parting out two Corvettes, an 84 and an 85. If the rotors and hubs will work for you guys, I'm willing to part with them.. Anyone want to trade a C4 setup for a C5?

The '84-85 brakes won't work...this style uses the '88-96 style brakes.

Do we know of any other sources for the caliper carriers? I just did the brakes on a friends F-150 that has dual piston calipers. I haven't had the opportunity to take a real good look at the Corvette set up yet, so it got me thinking. I didn't check the thickness of the rotor or even look to much at the carrier since I'm not sure what I'm really looking for.

Unless I missed it somewhere how do I get a C4 brake upgrade kit, and do they make a kit for the back too. I already have discs on my 1991 Z. There a website I can go to or a phone number? Thanks.

No company sells the "C4" kits but Baer sells a 12" Sport kit that's the same for $975. I do know of guys running the C4 calipers on the rear but that's a custom setup too.

PM/E-mail me and I can give you more info on the C4 upgrade.

Eb,
I thought that you were going to go with a 1/2" bracket because when you used the 3/8" bracket you had to use a spacer which made a total of 1/2" anyways, or am I totally wrong.

fromhttps://www.thirdgen.org/techbb2/sho...0&pagenumber=6

you said:

"I got around to playing with the setup a little yesterday. I was able to use a 1/2" thick bracket with the REAR rotor and it looks like it fit up perfectly with no cutting on the caliper carrier. (I used the 3/8" bracket I made with 2 washers on each bolt but the overall thickness is 1/2"). I had to use the spacer that I mentioned to clear the outer edge of the carrier but it looks like it will work fine. I am still trying to get the front rotor fitted up but that will probably take a little cutting of something to do so I will play around with it some more before I mess up any metal. I'm working on getting another set of brakes to play with.

SO, looks like if you feel you need to step up to that 1/2" thick(overkill) bracket, it just may work. I'll try to get pics tonight."

Did you change the design or what is going on?

Wow that was a while back..I dopn't know what I was thinking when I typed that. My C4 and LS1 brackets are 3/8" thick plate steel. The C4s don't require any spacers since it fits up so well. The LS1s done my way do require a small washer between the caliper carrier and the custom bracket. You can't fit 1/2" thick bracket in there, just too tight and 1/2" thick would be overkill on these setups anyway.

I've got the C4s down pat and I'm just finishing up the LS1s this week. Looks like they'll be good to go in a week or so.
