Need help with Drum Brake Parts
I have a 89 Camaro. I have Drum Brakes on the rear and I was thinking about replacing all of the parts on the drum brakes with new ones.
I don't have the money right now to replace the rear end to disc brakes so I thought I would just redo the drum brakes I have.
Does anyone know where I can get drum brake kit from? If not, can anyone list all of the parts I would need to replace the hardware in the drums? I appreciate it

Best thing to do is go to your local parts store and let them know that you need new break shoes. And if the drums that you have on there right now can not be turned, then go ahead and get new ones. I dont think there that expensive. and get you some break parts cleaner.
hopefully you wont need to replace the little break cylinders ( i forget what they call them ) that are in there. have fun!!

you can also ask for the hardware kit, it has all the spings and stuff you need for the change.

Wheel cylinders on the rear drums are what they are called. If you do new cylinders, turn drums, hardware, and pads, it should run between $80 - 100.

I just did a my rear brakes last weekend and I got all my parts from Napa. Assuming your cylinders aren't leaking (like mine were) all you will need is a pair of shoes and a spring kit (which Napa has). I had to replace both cylinders, shoes, and springs and I did it all for under $50. I wouldn't advise having the drums turned unless they are in real bad shape. If your wheel cylinders are leaking let me know and I can tell you how to replace those, getting them off and on is real tricky. If your gonna tackle this with out having done them before I would advise buying a Haynes Manual for $15, I don't think I could have done mine successfully without it.
