PBR rotors rubbing on a '95 9 bolt
Okay, so I've seen various threads about this, but they are almost all about the 10-bolt.
I just finished swapping my '92 drum brake 9-bolt out for a '95 with the PBR setup, also a 9-bolt. Everything is together and working except for the rotors will rub the outside arm of the caliper mounting brackets when I am turning.
Now, the axle shafts have about 1/4inch play in them on both sides, and there are no shims/washers in the caliper bracket. Even when the shafts are pushed all the way in there is barely a hair's gap between the rotor and bracket.
What I can't figure out is if this a brake problem (add some washers/shims to the bracket), or if this is an axle problem (C-clips, shims, what-have-you).
This problem didn't seem to exist when I drove the donor car, but I only drove it a small handful of times.
Any advice would be great.

sure you don't have a 10 bolt? I don't think there are any 9bolt rears with drums
9bolt rears where 85-88 with iron delco calipers and 89 with pbr aluminum calipers
9bolts also do not use c-clips

yeah, no 9 bolts were ever installed in the 4th gens..
you swapped the whole housing and it rubs on the caliper mounting bracket?

Wrong the left over stock from the 93 9-bolts we're intalled until late 95 early 96 at the dealership for those who kept breaking the ultra weak factory 10 bolt. But from factory non we're installed after March 94 but as a recall or dealer fix they installed them rarely. My best friend had a late 94 with a 9-bolt I thought it was weird as hell until he told me his dad blew the 10 bolt 3 times then the dealership put in the 9-bolt because his dad was too cheap to go with the SLP Dana 44

You bumped a 4 year old thread to post hearsay garbage?
GM stopped using the 9-bolt in 1990. A story is just a story... Which is more likely, a dealership had a part laying around from 1989, or they or someone went to a junkyard and got a used part and stuffed that in there because they were cheap...

Well - back in 95 or 96 you could likely order a 9 bolt from the parts department. They may have just ordered an 89 9 bolt for the guy. Seems unlikely but who knows. At any rate they didn't put them in 91-93's. That much is well known.
