intresting line lock question a friend asked me...
ok, we know a line lock is a electric valve that closes so that the front brakes stay on....
what he asked me is.... if i turned the line lock on, with the brakes off.. would it block off the front brakes? thereby making the footbrake rear only.... like the ebrake....
i would assume it would, but i never tried it...
has anyone here tried it? basicly i think he wants to know if he can turn it on, and then use it to slide around a wet parking lot... lol...
also, think it would hurt the line lock? since the pressure would be coming from the other way......

It depends on how the valve is designed. With the kind of pressure present in brake systems, I would think that a line-lock would have to be a gate-type valve, in which case it would work just fine. However, I've never taken one apart so I don't know.
It's something I've wondered about before but never checked out.

Nope, it just won't release the front brakes when you press them down. I've done it a few times where I am just driving normally, press the button then brake, release my foot and let the car stop itself.

Right; most have a check valve.... allow fluid to go into the wheel cyl or caliper, but doesn't allow it to come back.
Any one that could totally disable the brakes by an accidental flip of the switch, would be a suicide looking for the best place to happen. Which is not to say that there might not be some chinesium one out there somewhere that would work like that.

well, another friend of mine found out that some WILL block off the front brakes this weekend...
he rolled up, didnt do a burn out, just went right up to the line... it was his first time spraying the car, so i thought he was nervous.... turns out he turned the lock on before pressing the brake, and it didnt let them come on... he got nervous and just rolled up to the line... (hes still a bit of a newbie)
i dont really want to try it on mine unless i know it wont hurt it...
think it would hurt the 'noid/valve to have it on, THEN press the brakes?
