? about NAPA Rotors and Calipers
I'm going to be doing a brake upgrade to my car soon and I get a good discount at NAPA, I'm thinking of using Corvette C4HD front and LS1 rear, I was looking online and they have the cheap Tru-Stop calipers and rotors and also have the Premium and or Hi-performance ones too, the good ones are 2 or 3 times the price, anyone know if the good parts are worth the price?

Don't know on the parts, but good choice on the brake setup. I'll have that exact same setup in a few weeks. I have the LS1 brakes in teh back already and I'm gathering parts for my C4HD swap up front. I'll have to check out the C4HD caliper prices through them. I don't like the prices anywhere else...I'm used to this cheap $15 stock caliper stuff.

Ewww those core charges are nasty. I'll have to keep that in mind though for whenever I have to replace the calipers, that's the cheapest prices I've seen (excluding core charges)

i work at NAPA and would recommend the United brake parts line. the TruStop brake parts are cast and/or made overseas and are not manufactured to the tolerances as the United stuff. the metallurgic composition from US cast and overseas cast iron makes a difference in the rotors. the United rotors exceed the OEM specifications in most cases also and are made by Dana.
all the calipers through NAPA are going to be remanufactured with a core charge (through Rayloc i believe). the only difference between the TruStop and United calipers is whether they pack them with TruStop or United pads. i wouldnt get a semi-loaded/bare caliper as i have had calipers come in missing brackets and become a huge headache for the customer and the store.
edit: i forgot to add that the performance rotors are cross drilled and slotted and are available under the United line. i have a replacement set in my basement for my car but have not run them so i dont know if they are any better than aftermarket slotted and/or cross drilled rotors.

Those calipers are aluminum, not iron.
Also, if you're going to spend that much on calipers, just buy them new through GM Parts Direct at $93 each...brand new, no core charges.

he asked about the calipers and rotors. my comments on the casting/manufacturing pertain to the rotors only. i thought that i made that clear. my apologies for any confusion.
