my brake pads lasted me 8,000 miles
how is this possible...they are the rayebestos brute stop pads, with the brute stop rotors cross drilled/power slotted,
it looks uneven wear though.....one side of the pad is more worn than the other, also the inside pads are more worn than outside... is this normal

The titanium guide pins that the calipers "float" on back and forth either needs to be greased or are worn and needs to be replaced and the new ones greased for a smooth hangup free operation. Its very common that the caliper will not glide smoothly on the pins and the pad on the piston side of the caliper will take the blunt of the pressure and constant contact upon release thus making it wear faster.
Even when everything is new and working perfect, the inside pad will always "slightly" wear quicker on a floating caliper system. But not in 8,000 miles. Should be at least twice that.

no rattle clips were installed on the pads, and the pins were not greased.... thanks for the tip learn something new every day

put the pin in the caliper while its only hanging from the car (not hanging of course, that coule kill your lines, i mean you holding it in your hands) you;ll see where the pins contact the calipers, grease it so it will slide along freely...kinda hard to explain. Just grease the whole pin.

Don't forget to grease the sleeves. On the calipers inner mounting ears there is a sleeve and O-ring (two per caliper). The O-ring is in the caliper ear and the sleeve goes into the O-ring. These need to be greased.
The sleeves slide within the O-ring to float the caliper. Only the outer end of the pin slides within the caliper.
