Manual Brake Conversion questions
Manual Brake Conversion questions
I purchased a aluminum adapter from a guy off this board awhile back. I believe it is suppose to use a mopar master cylinder....but not sure. The inner hole is 1.5"s and the mounting bolt is 3.25" center to center.
Anybody know the part # or the car thats uses a aluminum MC off a mopar?
I was also looking at the Pro Fab kit(strange) and buying it and just use there mounting bracket. Will there mounting bracket bolt to a 3rg gen firewall or will I have to drill new holes?
Does anybody know how to figure the right point on the brake pedel to attach the rod..I know it is suppose to chnage from the mounting point on a power brake set up.
Thanks
jeff

i bought the MP parts m/c out of jegs and redrilled the pedal to where the rod sits in the center of the hole.
the kits may make it eiser as it was a pain to build the right pushrod.

There are many different variations of the production Mopar master cylinders, throughout the 1980's (bore size, mainly). I use a Mopar Performance MC in my car, the one with a 15/16" bore size (#5249270), which is smaller than most, but builds the most pressure to the calipers.
As far as the mounting point on the brake pedal lever, ideally you want to keep the pushrod in line with the MC bore - wherever it aligns with your brake pedal lever is where you should attach it to. Slightly higher I find to be more advantageous, since it will give you a better leverage ratio, and it will be more inline with the MC throughout it's range of motion.
