help with rear brakes!!!!!!
hey room........i need help finding out a brake problem. My rear brakes dont work.....well it about 95% front brakes 5% rear. I know that is not how it is supposed to be and need help. i have read articles in pobtiac magazines about rear brakes "Frezing" but no articles about how to fix this. Its a 1987 pontiac formula with disk all around. I also heard it has something to do with the E-Brake and the ratchet type calapers. I have changed calapers onthe the back...........changed pads..........yanked the e-brake when stoped a million times( brake shop told me that would tighten them up) and bleed them for hours but nothing. Dont know what to do......andone with help thanx....

If they're already frozen, yanking the brake will do nothing. You either need to rebuild the caliepers with the recall kit or you can upgrade the whole rear brake system to the '89-97 PBR rear brakes and have a setup that will actually work. Recall kits are around $35 and will do both calipers, I just got one last week.

Rebuilt calipers took care of my problem. I do want to look into the rear brake upgrade as well a the front stuff. Just have to wait until I get back from my vacation to see what I have left for cash.....
