You'll have to modifiy the axel flanges on the drum rear. Afterward the swap is straightforward. Check the following link:

Simply drop one rear end and insert the other. You may need another master cylinder and/or proportioning valve. If you find a donor car, take these as well as the rear end, to include the e-brake cables if possible. For a step-by-step, you might consider a manual--or do a search here and you'll no doubt find something.

JamesC....ok im sort of confused, i know once i get all the parts i need i can figure it out but what are ALL the parts i would need to convert from drum to disc (just the rear brakes)???
and yes the rear end swap is very simple, unbolt the driveshaft and suspension, remove brake lines and bolt the new one up. you may need new brake lines and i would defenitly recommend a new prop. valve since the way it is now the rear will probably lock up way before the fronts

The easiest way is to simply swap in the appropriate disc brake rear end (choice of gears and posi). Take the e-brake cables, M/C and proportioning valve and you have what you need.
Drum to disc will require modification of the axel flanges. Check the following link:

First hand experience....
My car has been down for 10 days doing just this very thing. I took a 91 rear end with J65 brakes and put it under my 88 with drum brakes.
DO NOT BELIEVE that all you have to do is reconnect the lines.
The hardlines will NOT attach to your calipers. You need the flexible brake lines with the banjo valve and crush rings. . Plus you will need new hardlines (shorter than with drums). And the bracket that holds them together. Also, new cables for your Ebrake. (Got them from Chevy for $24 each)
Yes the correct proportioning valve is important.
EbMiller88 says he has all the necessary parts. I am waiting on the preformed hardlines from him to complete my install. Got the flex lines, banjo valve and crush rings from Chevy. The brackets from Classsic Industries.
After getting into this, it makes me wonder how many of the folks that say it is "just bolt it in and reconnect the lines" have ACTUALLY done this.

disc backing plates, rotors, calipers, pads, correct e-brake cables, new or modified hard axle lines, 3 pc flex lines for disc rears, backing plate to carrier bolts, caliper banjo bolts for PBR disc calipers, crush washers, and about 3 hours.
