prop valve with pictures - need help please

I have been reading all the posts and I guess I will just post the pics here and let you guys tell me what I need to do. I have a 1986 IROC-Z with drum rears. I purchased a disc rear end with M/C and proportioning valve. The axle code shows it to be from 1984. I pulled my rear today and installed the 1984 rear and everything was fine. I went to change the prop valve and hit the snag, the 1984 prop valve accepts a different type brake line. I am going to post the pics and someone please tell me if I need just a newer style prop valve and if so part number too.

Pics 1 is both valves, left side is 1984; right side 1986

This is the pics of my 1986 valve and the type of brake lines my car has on it. My 1986 prop valve for drum brakes look like a drilled hole with a hole in the center of it.

This is the pic of the 1984 valve. The inlets for the brake lines look like a hole with a mountain rising up with the top cut off.

Do I need to order a prop valve for a 1986 with 4 wheel disc and that would have the correct fittings that match my car? Thanks
Tony

Just keep your drum brake prop valve.

Your 86 fittings are metric bubble flare, but the 84 prop valve looks like an SAE double flare. Are you sure it's from an 84? SAE flaring was supposedly only used in 82-83, but you're not the first person that's said it came on an 84.

The axle code is from an 84, the guy I got it from said it got pulled right off the same car. About using the old prop valve - will that work just fine?

Right...Metric and Standard threads look like the difference. What you could do is swap the two upper lines coming off the master cylinder as they should swap, but if they don't I'd use the valve and cylinder from the '86 and go from there. If you aren't happy with the performance, then look into swapping out the prop. I'd keep the drum master in any case.

Gotcha, I re-installed the 86 M/C and valve and just finished working on cleaning my EGR valve. I am going to bleed the M/C and then the brake lines this afternoon and see how all my hard work pays off. I am really hoping for a lot I think from going from 2:73 to 3:23's and disc rear brakes. Cross your fingers. Thanks all
