Animated C5 Install, big download.
Here's one side that I finished up tonight. Got the brackets and hubs from TPI383. Everything went in fine, it was really pretty simple.
Big download, but should help people understand the steps involved. I'm glad they fit my 17" GTA's, as I never checked until tonight!
And since some people don't believe it, I found everything I needed just searching the threads, didn't have to ask anyone about it..

Hubs and brackets (from TPI383) $200 or so..
Rotors $60 shipped from ebay
Calipers $100 shipped from ebay (still have to sell the rear calipers I got with them) so really about $50
8 bolts for the brackets from GM and Fastenal $20
caliper brackets, ceramic pads, caliper bolts and boots $230 shipped from Dal at Van Devere olds..
So I guess about $600 would be a good average. Slotted GM rotors would add about another $60. New calipers would add to the price. If you owned a machine shop and powder coating business you could probably do the hubs and brackets cheaper, but you might as well get them from Chris (TPI383)..
Don't forget the 17" rims and tires to clear the new brakes..thats the expensive part.

Check out the main LS1 brake upgrade thread in the FAQ section of the forum, and then I think there's a C5 specific one in the brake board. Those two tought me everything I needed to know.

You can't buy a carrier + caliper combo. The carrier is always separate. If you buy a new caliper you get the bolts, pins, and boots needed to slide the caliper into the carrier.
A lot of C5 guys upgrade to Z06 calipers (same thing, just red), so can find used sets of calipers pretty cheap (since they typically replace all 4 at one time). They reuse their stock bolts, pins, and boots so you typically have to purchase those with used calipers.
The hubs and brackets are the essential pieces needed to get stock C5 parts to bolt on your third-gen.
Again, there's hundreds of messages detailing HOW to do this, I was just showing visual examples of what those messages are talking about.

the bolts you had to order were the
- "abutment to bracket" bolts, m14-2.0x35mm (fastenal)
- "bracket to spindle" bolts, 11508133(gm)
correct?
sorry, those 10 page long posts really mess with my ADD.

You got it! Use a M12 x 1.75 tap on the spindle holes for the GM bolts to work.

Brand new sawz-all blades 18 teeth count I believe. Should have only taken one, but I broke it half way through the second side.
I did do it on the car, and it was actually one of the easiest parts. I used the cutting oil I got for the tap and it went through like butter. The rounded allen bolts lets you cut a little less out too. The cuts don't end up straight, but it's easier to go straight and then angle after you get a better idea of what needs to be cleared.
