Squeezing piston into caliper w/ e-brake?

Ok, im on my rear brake calipers now and iv got to push the piston into the caliper. this is an '86 brake caliper. iv got a big C-clamp squeezing the face of the piston and the bolt head holding the emergency brake lever on. This thing wont go anywhere. i can push the brake pedal and get the piston to come out, then squeeze it back in to that same position, but no further.

Do i need to do something to back the emergency brake out to allow the piston to push into the caliper? Iv got a feeling that is what it is, but how do i do that.

iv done this on front brakes but never the back with the e-brake. thanks for any help on it

The piston doesn't press in, it screws in. Rotate the piston while you apply pressure.

I assume that you mean apply pressure to the face of the piston right?

This piston will not spin, iv sprayed PB Blaster inside the rubber boot even becasue the boot was ripped, and it just will not turn. if i weret o take off the e-brake lever, or turn that bolt, would anything help me out?

right now the piston is about 3/4" out from the caliper.

thanks for help

Apply pressure to the face of the piston while you rotate it in carefully with a pair of large slip joint pliers, preferrable without tearing the boot. There's a tool available to do it easily, but it's not entirely necessary.
