Need help before taking car back to shop!
I need some reference from you guys regarding the parking brake cables on rear-disc cars. I had new calipers, hoses (braided), and p-brake calipers installed and I don't think the driver's side cable is routed correctly. The mechanic routed it UNDER the track bar. The loop is so low it looks like its gonna snag something. I believe it should go OVER the bar - correct? He's going to fix it-no-problem, but I just want to be sure.
Second, the passenger-side cable drooped and rested on the intermediate pipe. The brackets these cables are routed thru obviously are not intended to hold the cable tight. They are the right part numbers (Raybestos). Anyone have this problem?what's the fix.
Lastly, there was a black donut-looking cushion around the driver's side cable. I assume it was to protect the cable from the tailpipe. It's not there now and the shop probably threw it away. Do I need to replace this thing?
Thanks.
p.s. Hawk's pads + Earl's braided cables + new calipers/cables = great brakes!

1. Yes, the cables need to be run up and over the rear axle;
2. Take a look at the pic I'm attaching. THe E-brake cables need to be held in place my these small "S" clips, try to locate some and hang your cables up right;
3. Don't worry about the round spongy thing. As long as your cables aren't hitting the exhaust or rubbing a sharp area they will be fine.
Take a look at JamesC's thread on his brake swap, he has real good pics of how to route everything cleanly. Also, you'll notice on his diff cover that he has the 4th gen e-brake cable guides installed, you can use those also. I have a few sets on hand if you'd like to get some.

Also, here's how the driver's side cable ran on my old '88 rearend before I swapped rears, this may help you see how yours should look. More pics are here:

Thanks Ed.
Yup, he missed the s-hook, and I did have him re-route the driver's side (retrieved the "donut" from the trash). Everything works great now. Only thing - seems like the Hawk's pads don't have much grip when cold. I'd probably go with ceramic pads next time.

Give the pads time to bed themselves to the rotors, then you should see a nice difference.
