I bought one of the aluminum 1LE spares off e-bay for my car after the PBR swap but I think the steel one would work as my good friend has a factory PBR car with that spare.

Is your 1LE spare the alum 10-spoke inflatable? If so, it apparently won't work. Any idea what size the factory spare is that your friend has?

The 10-spoke aluminum deal is only like a 14" rim.
The other aluminum spare is 15", and is a solid disk -- lots of people assume it's steel because it's painted black.

Another option is the 16" spare that came with all '98-'02 fourthgens. Saves you having to mess with inflation cannisters. It's a very tight fit in the thirdgen compartment, but it will fit. (on my '83, it pushes the trim out maybe 1/2" further out then where it's supposed to be. (which isn't noticeable with the hatch closed, obviously)

I have a HD Baer kit on my '83, and the 1LE spare didn't quite fit. The '98-02 spare worked fine.

FYI, later C4 'vettes supposedly had a 17" spare, but I've never used one.

Maybe I didn't make myself clear enough (bad habit). Is the 89-92 spare, used with PRB's, a P195/75-D15?

Nah, we're just easily distracted.

Yes, it is a P195/75-D15.
