Disconnect E-brake cables?

I'm trying to get my car smogged this weekend, and I don't yet have the e-brake cables (the originals were toast). So instead of waiting for the cables, I'd like to just drive without them for the time being.

Should there be a reason that this wouldn't be OK? The car is an auto, so it's not going to roll away or anything.

Thanks!

You'll be good to go, though I'd certainly add the cables as soon as possible.
