Right Prop Valve for 1LE

I added 1LE brakes to the front of my 1985. I still have the iron Delco Moraine brakes in the back.

When I originally made that mod, I didn't change the prop valve. After checking on this board, I thought I'd better change it so I bought p/n 14089496 prop valve from the dealer.

I took it to Dyno Don. When he compared the two (the one on the car with the one from the dealer) he said they looked the same.

It shouldn't be, but that's the way it is. Any ideas? (Yes, I did search). Thanks!

I put the 1LE valve in my 85 IROC (and at the time it had the regular J65 rear discs). Worked great. Here's what the Camaro Parts and Illustration Catalog says: Valve, Comb (J65) (1985) 25521985. The stock p/n is clearly different from the 1LE.

1989-1990

Valve, Brk Comb (1989 1st Des) (J65, 1LE, Y82) 14089496

There's also a second design 1LE.

Visually they will look the same, I can't tell them apart either. Difference is all internal.

I checked with the dealer in the area and verified the #14089496
is listed as all '86-'92. Maybe it's just a retro.

Could easily be--this is GM after all. For the heck of it, I looked up the valve for J65 brakes, 1986-88 and 89 (Exc 1LE ) and the p/n number is 14089497. Darn close.

At any rate, Parrydise, I'd throw in the 1LE valve.
