mushy brake pedal

Engine: 310 LG4
Transmission: 700R4 w/2200 stall
Axle/Gears: 3.42
mushy brake pedal

When I had the V6 in the car, the brake pedal has been nice and firm. I got my new LG4 running and it seems a bit mushy now, not as firm. Could this be from my bigger cam? 214/224, do I need a vacuum pump to compensate?

low vacuum = bad brakes.

Axle/Gears: 3.42 10 bolt
probably not a vacuum pump, but if low vacuum is the problem, you could try a reservoir. It's just a cannister with a check valve on it that stores vacuum for when you need it, like when you stomp the brakes. Search this site or visit Jegs or Summit to find out more. They don't cost a whole lot and are pretty easy to install. It's a real common thing on cars with big cams and vacuum accessories, like brakes.

i may be wrong but wouldint the pedal now being mushy be cause of to much assist? meaning you dont have to press the pedal as hard? if it was lacking pressure but you brakes were not messed up it should make it harder and not softer if you did not have as much assist. More vacume = more power assist less vacume would mean you would have to push harder to get the pedal to the same position right?
