About how much will a guy have to spend to put 13" C4 front brakes on a third gen? Is it cheaper to buy a kit or buy up the pieces individually?

Seems like this C4 stuff would be best if I want to keep my 16" iroc wheels. Right?

I've got the later bigger (11.6", I think) third gen disk setup for the back already. This should go good with the 13" fronts. Right?

I've already bought an adjustable proportioning valve.

I just want a this to be a zippy street car that may occasionally see some non-competetive autocross use.

Got any better ideas before I drop my tax return $?

hey guys whats up. im not familiar with the c4 brakes but im in the process of doing a c5 kit. with 13" rotors you will need 17" wheels i have an iroc and the stock wheels dont fit my kit. i just ordered mine from a guy who makes the kits. he offeres a ls1 kit which is a 12"rotor set up and will fit 16" rims except for the gta lace wheels. here is his site, bigbrakeupgrade.com

 

I custom built a 13" 6piston Wilwood kit that WILL fit under a factory 16" IROC rim. Search *Wilwood* if you want details on how to built one yourself.

 

Depending on the kit, you CAN fit a 13" rotor inside a 16" wheel. I run the 13" HD setup myself. Make sure your wheels will clear the C5s, they won't fit all 17" wheels. And as mentioned above, 13" Wilwoods fit just fine.

what is the difference with the c4hd and the c5. the c5 will be ok for me i have 17x8 roh snypers up front. i wish i would have seen you before i began doing my brakes ed.

 

No biggie, we can still get you hooked up. Main difference is in the caliper design and slight rotor differences:

HDs: 13" x 1.1" rotors
C5s: 12.75" x 1.25" rotors

C5s have pin guided calipers, HDs are pad guided. C5 calipers are also much larger and thicker which is why they won't fit under 16" wheels. Here's pics of both from Baer's website:
