Some brake issues...
ok, first off, my back brakes were really bad, didn't work very well. And I had a problem with the pedal going to the floor, having no brakes, and the brake light turning on.
Took them apart the other day because it was metal on metal. Here is what I found:
The two pins in each mounting bracket that are suppose to float, both froze solid, on both sides of the car.
Bleeder valves, oh yeah, not moving.
Caliper was pushing uneven, on both sides.
Parking brake line is frozen.
Both rotors were junk, especially the metal on metal one.
Had to pound the driver side caliper off the rotor.
So, replaced the rotors and calipers and pads and pins.
Bled the brakes extensively, and the pedal is much much more firm when I drive, used to go down halfway before the brakes caught, now it feels good. Somewhat squishy still, I haven't gotten to the front brakes yet.
Here is my question.
I can only replicate this moving forward, not in park. ok, Rolling forward, if I apply a normal amount of pressure, brakes seem to work fine. If I apply a gradual light pressure, the pedal will eventally find it's way to the floor thus turning on the brake warning light, and me not having any brakes until I pump it a couple times. And then it is all back to normal.
A gradual trip to the floor doesn't sounds like air in the lines, it sounds more like a bad MC. Does it sound like a good analysis?
Also, I was doing some searching, and I read that the real calipers won't work properly with the e-brake disconnected. My e-brake is disconnected because the line is completely frozen. Is it important to have? Could I get a clarification?
Thanks
Steve

These old 3rd gens are nortorious for problems especiallys after x amount of years. Suggestion is to swap over to a newer brake system from a 4th gen
