Best Brake upgrade for 86 IROC-Z w/ 16" rims?
I was out yesterday in my wifes 01 vette and had to nail the brakes because an A-Hole in front of me. Obviously the car stops on a dime. I began to think about my 86 IROC-Z with 4 wheel disc and how crappy it stops. I would have plowed through the person in front of me if I were in my beloved IROC-Z. Who truelly makes a brake package comparable to what my vette has. I am using stock 16" 1986 IROC-Z rims too, keep this in mind. I really don't want to loose my project car because of the brakes. Thanks for all the advice.Tony

My 13" HDs will fit those wheels, I run them on my car. They look a lot like this:

Ed, Do you use those on all four corners? What about the proportioning valve and master cylinder, do you use the stock one or would I upgrade to something better? Please fill me in on the details and a cost estimate please. You can PM me if you would like or post up. Thanks

Sorry for the delay...I usually recommend a set of "1LE/LT1" rear discs to compliment the front setups "we" do on the boards. This will essentially give you full 1LE brakes at all 4 corners with a slight change in rotor size, usually an increase. The reason I say this is that the C4/C5/C6 calipers use practically the same size caliper piston so the pressures are the same. I recommend a stock drum master, the same as 1LE cars use, and the 1LE spec prop valve, or an adjustable one if you feel the need to go that far.
I sent you a PM also.
