Help Please! my brakes lock up!
Hello,
I own an 87 Camaro and these past 2 weeks it hasnt been driven...its been raining here like crazy in new york except for some days where its off and on...today i take my car out finally, and the breaks lock up when i lightly step on the brake pedal. They are Drum brakes in the rear and disks in the front..i think it is the rear that are locking up.
Could this just be from the rain?
or is it that the drums need aligning?
or even the proportioning valve?
please help!
thanks,
Nick

you could have all of those problems but what it sound like is that you have a problem with the rear brakes being ajusted up too tight take a look at that if thats not your problem try a simple bleed of the system

Hey thanks for the advice!
My tires dont look bald though and they were brand new the guy i bought the car from just put them on.
I'm gonna take it somewhere to get looked at because it keeps happening.

Car: VIN=85 T/A, CAR=82/3 T/A gfx, go figure. She's a T/A anyway!
Engine: 5.0, Holley 600 cfm 4-barrel
Transmission: THM350 ??
A similar thing happens to me if I've not driven the car for a few days - the passenger side rear locks up for fun, but after the first couple of brake applications the systems works normally.
