dumb question PBR LS1 rear calipers

dumb question PBR LS1 rear calipers

what is the purpose of the nuts on the back of the caliper that hold the carrier? the carrier just slides off these studs?, reason i ask is i'm new to these calipers and had to take them off, i had to turn the nuts to free it, actually i thought i was unscrewing it until i realized nothing was happening

Those bolts hold the caliper to the guide pins which allow the caliper to slide back and forth in the carrier and adjust for pad wear.
