Do All GTAs come with 1LE Brakes?

Do all 1989 GTAs come with the 1LE braking system? I know they have the WS6 suspension package....just not sure about brakes. I'm trying to get some info so I can get a brake upgrade.

Thanks!

As far as I know GTA's were not available with the 1LE package, the only almost exception was the 89 Turbo Trans Am which had 1LE brakes as part of the turbo package.

Steve,

Thanks for the info. I knew the TTA came with the 1LE brakes but I wasn't sure about the V8 GTAs. The RPO codes are nowhere to be found, so unfortunately that effort to find out came up short. Also, how would I find out if the brakes were by some odd chance 1LEs? Are they a different size?

Thanks!

Awesome! I'll go ahead and check the car tomorrow. The parts are not interchangeable are they? For instance, if the car came with the standard set, I couldn't just upgrade to 1LE parts could I?

They are a different size and look totally different

I think only the Trans Am model was available with the 1LE package from 88-90 and then the Trans Am and Formula in 91-92

Here's a production breakdown

1989 Trans Am 1LE: 26
1990 Trans Am 1LE: 4
1991 Formula 1LE: 46
1991 Trans Am 1LE: 62
1992 Formula 1LE: 22
1992 Trans Am 1LE: 9
--------------------
Total Pontiac 1LE Production: 172

1988 Camaro IROC Z 1LE: 4
1989 Camaro IROC Z 1LE: 111
1990 Camaro IROC Z 1LE: 62
1991 Camaro Z28 1LE: 478
1992 Camaro Z28 1LE: 705
------------------------
Total Chevrolet 1LE Production: 1360

James, thanks for the great info! Since the car's not mine (my dad's) I can't make that decision for him to upgrade. He just wants a replacement set, but if the car were mine, I'd definitely do it!

Right now we're looking at all new GM replacement parts or an upgrade from SSBC if prices are comparable.
