Rear brakes on88 camaro
I searched but couldnt find what I needed. Let me start by saying I cant figure out how to change the rear pads. I dont quite understand how to take the calipers off.The chiltens and haynes books to me arent that clear to me.Can anyone explain this better please with some pics maybe.Most of the time I can figure this out.Thanks for your help Dave

On the '88s, remove the calipers just as you would the front ones, by removing the two 3.8" Allen bolts that hold them to the backing plate. Remove the pads and move to getting the piston back in. The piston in these calipers must be screwed back in, not just pushed in. You can do this with a special tool available at Auto Zone or other parts stores or if you're fairly handy, you can turn the piston back in using a set of medium sized needle nose pliers and a steady hand. Reinstall the pads and bolt the caliper in place. Now, this is important. Get in the car and use the e-brake numerous times until it gets tight. These style of calipers will adjust using the e-brake and if you don't take up the slack in the piston adjuster, your rear brakes will not do you any good in braking.
