i all depends on the offset of the wheels.
i ran Factory ZR1's 17x9 36mm and found that 1.7-1.75 would put your rear spaceing at almost exactly the same as the front, if you used 2.00 on the
front.
since a lot of people like the older (very hard to find) 52mm offset rear 17x11 ZR1's i believe a 1.5 inch spacer would be a tight fit. i test fitted these on my camaro, they are just too wide for the body design of the 3rd gen.
i ended up using 2.00 inch spacers on all 4 corners and they all fit in the wheel wells with a 36mm offset just fine.
then i updated to a 4th gen rearend, so the rears spacers i sold them.
and then i installed LS1 brakes on all four corners. so the sklute 1.7 is what i now use on the fronts. i also sold the front 2.00 as well.

i run 17x9 ZR1's which is a 275/45 R17 kumho ASX, which is 10 1/2 inchs of rubber on the road. even the aftermarket 17x9.5 rims ZR1's will still fit.
AND yes the wheels fit inside the fenders. i could "drop/lower" the car and the wheels would fit inside the fenders just fine.
