ls1 master cylinder
got my car all torn apart, doing an engine/trans swap, again... im redoing all my brake lines and i picked up an ls1 master cylinder cause its supposed to be an upgrade over the third gen master cylinders. anyhow, im looking and the rear of the two MS and the piston? on my old MS is much larger than the ls1. is this right? do i have a freak? any ideas?

Hey //<86TA>\\, I also have a LS1 MC to put in my car when I do the 4th gen posi/disk swap. What are you describing? I may get it done this Sunday, If I get the front suspension done quick enough.

hey kris hows it going, what im talking about in the piston inside the MS. if you look at the back of it, where it bolts to the booster, there is a piston in the center about 1" maybe on the ls1 and much bigger on the old stocker, the added performance may be in a longer stroke, i dont know. FIY the booster will bolt right on but the lines going from the MS to the prop valve do not work. i managed to re-bend the rear line, its smaller, and it worked out fine but i have no idea what im going to do with the front. its going to be a beoitch!

Re: ls1 master cylinder
hey Phil, our cars are way to much alike
So the factory lines between the 3rd gen MC and prop valve wont work with the LS1 MC? I don't think it will be an issue because my step father is gonna make the hard lines for the rear axles, so I guess he can make the lines between the MC and prop valve. I just assumed the 3rd gen lines would bolt right into the LS1 MC. BTW, I'm using a 3rd gen 1LE prop valve, i dunno if that makes a difference.

Re: ls1 master cylinder
yea Kris, kinda funny how we have like the exact same setup...
but no, the threads and fitting sizes are the same, no problems there, the problem is that the ls1 MS is shorter? and lower than the stock one, like i said, the rear line is a 3/16 or something so i could bend it into the required shape without much problems, but the front is off quite a bit more and my tubing bender wont bend a small enough radius and i cant get things to work. i also dont have the right flaring tool, i have, well had, a double flaring tool, but i ended up breaking the damn thing, and i need a bubble flare tool that i will try to get this weekend as well as a tighter radius bender so hopeful i can get something built.
so i guess you got the car back together after the torque arm fiasco, how does it work? are you happy with it? i still haven't gotten mine
