Spindle question on LS1 brake swap....
I'm sure it has been asked a thousand times but...I did a search and didn't find what I needed so here goes.
I want to know if a fourth gen spindle/hub/brake assy. will interchange with the third-gen one. I know that most people just buy the brackets and use thier existing spindle and cut it. I happen to have the option to get the entire spindle with the A-arms and all from a 99 SS'. I know the rest of the stuff won't work but I would rather use the spindles without cutting/using brackets.
The other question I have is: it it possible by sing the fourth-gen spindle assy. to use the newer offset corvette/camaro wheels up front? I already am using a fourth-gen rear, and to be honest the brake upgrade is actually intended to be a by-product to fitting 4th gen/corvette style wheels because I have 2 sets of them that I cannot use because of the offset.
I was considering just using spacers, but would rather use the LS1 brake setup if possible.
Any feedback is appreciated.

330hp,
It is not possible to use the A-arm spindles. There is no place to mount the strut. I believe if you want to run the Vette wheels all the way around you will meed to get some spacers. http://www.skulte.com/ has the best stuff out there from the little reasearch I have done. I think a 2" will do the trick on the fronts. heck this link https://www.thirdgen.org/forums/brak...apters-do.html
Hope this helps,

I had looked for this also and ended up going with the spacers, but once you convert to the 4th gen brakes you will only need a 1.75 spacer due to the 4th gen brakes will stick out about 1/4 inch farther then the stockers

thanks for the help guys, I really appreciate it.
Looks like I'll go with the 1.7" spacers up front to go with the LS1 brakes.
How many of you have used the brackets that Bigbrakeupgrade.com sells? Is 3/8 steel thick enough?

Yup, unless you weld in the 4th gen inner fender wells, and use the 4th gen k-member somehow, you cant use any of the 4th gen front suspension. No need anyway...a lot of people will agree that the 3rd gens handle as good if not better than the 4th gens when the parts are good and its set up well.
And yes if you want to run 4th gen wheels or vette wheels with the 4th gen brakes you will want the 1.7" spacers from skulte. Andres at Skulte will take care of you...great company.
Ive used bigbrakeupgrade.com and was COMPLETELY happy with the product and service. I got the assembled unit. Spindle, hub with new bearings and dust cap, and the caliper bracket. Got it all assembled and ready to bolt on at a great price.

big brake upgrades we got the entire assembly from the ready to bolt on. it works great and was an easy swap would recomend them but we did the c5 upgrade they didn't fit the 17's we had (ronel 5 firehawk rims) so i ground down the fins w a 4.5" grinder 36 grit pad then an 80 and finnished w a 120. they ended up fitting as well as fitting the stock 16" 91-92 flat 5 bar wheels
