Rear Disc Brake Draggin after rebuild
Long time no post, but I have an issue I need a little advice on.
I have an 85 IROC metric 10bolt with the stock rear discs. I recently rebuilt the pretty much totally seized calipers using the recall kit. On the plus, I now for the first time ever actually have rear brakes, on the minus the left rear brake is dragging. It does not drag enough to affect handling or generate a lot of heat, but it is enough to make noise.
I already took the wheel off and backed the adjuster out a bit once. I need some tips on what to look for. IIRC the brake lines are a rubber one on the right and a steel one on the left, thats how the car came. So don't know if it s a brake line problem.
Also, when we rebuilt the brakes, the parts got mixed up right to left. The counterweighted adjusters have 2 different holes for the adjustment cam. One adjuster had a hex pattern and the other a 12 point, are they specific to a side? Could that interfere with the caliper backing off?
Please brake experts give me some insight and some direction.

Well it's been a few years, but from what I remember, one side did drag a bit more than the other after the rebuild. This is for the initial adjustment and after a bit of wear, it should be fine. Both my levers were 6 point. I would try the 12 point one on the side that's dragging as it gives you twice the adjustment positions. Yes, in the stock setup, one caliper is hard connected and the other uses a very short hose.
I heard of some people grinding the locating pin off the inboard pad to give more piston adjustability, but I would stay away from that as it is eventually going to affect the parking brake operation (after my rebuild, the piston would stay still by itself without the locating pin on the pad). As an alternative, sand the inboard pad down a bit to give some more inital clearance and to get rid of the noise.
