constant squeaking driving me nuts!!!!
the sound is coming from my driver side well, brakes do not affect the sound and it progresses with speed. turning the steering wheel doesnt change it either. i took the wheel off and checked pads(about 1k miles left on em), the wheel bearings weren't damaged. rotors are smooth. i did a 95-0 stop in roughly 350meters on the highway to avoid hitting some jackass that was on his cellphone two weeks ago. could i have warped or glazed the pads? i started bashing my head against the steering wheel today and im not sure how much longer I'm gonna be able to handle it without a taking a nail gun to it. any advice is appreciated. thanks
Re: constant squeaking driving me nuts!!!!
squeak or squeal?
Constant sqeal is a wheel bearing.
squeaking (mostly intermitant ) can be the pad compound being too hard (IE racing pads).
You may have overheated the pads and left pad buildup on the rotors thus giving a slight pulse feeling and a horrid sqeak every time the wheel rotates.
You were doing 95mph and he's the jerK? Sometimes you should proofread before you post. THis does not make you look good in your own admitance.

LOL i dont care that you were doing 95 or 10 jerks on cell phones **** me off..........hint air horns from a dump truck help out, they think they are fixin to die look up and see a car......i dont want to make you seem dumb but i got to ask is the wear indicator rubbing on the rotor? not tring to make you look like a tard, but even the best mechanic can over look something sometime, i had a set of brakes on my van that made a squeek all the time i got mad finnaly and got a set from JC Whitney.... Titanium ti22 is the brand name they have them for camaros also, hardly any brake dust and the are quiet and stop real good for the price 29.99, they have lasted a long time also

Re: constant squeaking driving me nuts!!!!
hehe, I get a bit of a lead foot. and they were braking in the fast lane for no reason that I could see(forgot to mention). but yea, I should still follow the 55mph limits. For the wear sensor, when I checked it last weekend it was roughly 1/8"-3/16" from touching the rotor. I'll take it apart next weekend and look for the buildup. I'll take another look at the bearings too(forgot to check the inner bearing). thanks for the heads up on the pads, I'll give them a try next when I get rid of these. if it turns out the rotor does have some buildup, what is the easiest way to get it off? Thanks for the info guys

Re: constant squeaking driving me nuts!!!!
yea i know o'rileys does it around here, not sure of the other major retailers but they can normaly turn rotors cheaper than anyone else unless you got a friend in high places......BTW another JC Whitney good deal is there slotted and drilled rotors, 69.99 a piece, a little more than standard rotors at your local parts house, but if you want good slotted and drilled for a good price you cant go worng, put them on my satty and camaro, no problems, just a thought for ya
off the subject, but why do people insist on driving slow in the fast lane, out there not passing, just off in there own world?!?!? Driving trucks, that really makes lots of us mad

totally dead thread and i haven't been on here in months, but i completely agree. over 90mph is a bit overboard but doing 55 in the fast/passing lane gets me antsy haha. and thanks for naming those brakes, 89RS_82Z, i put em on last week and they work great
