I need better brakes 130 mph +

Hi I have a drag race car I am trying to put better brakes on it or find out what is wrong with the current set up. I have a 3425 pound car with ED Quay manual brake coversion and willwood adj valve that is adjusted full open. SVO rear drum brakes and factory fronts. My proublem is the front rotors are blue from one day at the track and feel as if the pads and rotors are glazed over. More than likly caused by poor rear brakes. I jacked the car up and put it in gear the rears seem to be working. My thoughts are to put new pads and rotors and re shoe it in the rear and flush the system again does this sound right or get disc for the rear? I also still plan on running the nitrous mph should go up to around 150 mph. I just want to be safe. On a side note this car went 140mph before on the old combo and stoped much better but I did have power brakes then.

I would first recommend replacing the factory combo valve. If it is original, it has seen better days. The spring setups inside start causing a fading effect of pressure over time as they wear and age, and eventually you can not even lock the brakes anymore.

He said he has a Wilwood adjustable in there, but I dont know if he's still running the factory valve inline.

Just a guess, sounds like you dont have adequate line pressure if the brakes are blue now and werent before. These are the same discs up front right? Factory stuff? Maybe bleed the system again. Manual shouldnt make any difference as long as you can stand on the pedal.

I had similar problems, coulnt stop for , uh , squash. so i put aerospace brakes on front (the wilwood way, try and put them on the aerospace way lol) and it is amazing ( i do have disk rears though, way over kill 4 piston calipers and vented rotors) the thing stops on a dime now, break in of the pads was interesting too lol

Yes I took the factory porp. valve out I have the willwood adj unit but it is set for max. rear brake pressure and yes the front are oem units. It looks like I cooked the front brakes. Maby from the rear not working well enough.

thats hard to sy, the fronts do alot of braking, maybe if you have spare wheels with street tires on them you can see if all 4 will lock? when i test drive cars at work for brake problems i look for dirt in the road to see if the abs work correctly, sometimes its tricky to get the right wheel on the path though lol, you might want to try larger wheel cyls in the back to give it more power back there, i think svo's are pretty big though.
