parking break cable again

I have to replace my parking break cable. Seems no parts store has them or can even order. I searched on here and seems it is difficult to find. I saw one person say oriellys, they told me its a no-go. Zone says no-go. Advanced/parts america says no go as well.

Where to order?

Also, while searching I see a discussion of adjustable and non-adjustable. Can I take my 91 and make it adjustable by just replacing front cable. Or do I have to get a new handle too? Difficulty?? Does front cable come with the equalizer too, or is that a parts yard find?

Which cable are you trying to replace? There are 3.

Your '91 has no adjustment but if you install a tunnel lever from a '82-89 it will work for you. Equalizers can still be bought I think but not from GM..discontinued.

Re: parking break cable again

I have to replace right rear. But the equalizer up top is bent and heavly rusted. I wont beable to feed a new cable in its bent so bad.

So might as well replace all 3, and go to adjustable style. So I have to replace the handle/lever as well? So trip to junk yard more then likely and get handle/front section. Then either find rears new, or jack the junk yard ones as well.

I'd look in the yards for the equalizer but most yards are ditching cars this old nowadays, not much money in them. The rear cables are available from the aftermarket so you're good to go.

LOL, I have access to a lot thats primary in f-bodys. Then another private lot that is nothing but f-bodys. Then the local pull-it lot usually has 3-4.

I'll find the used parts needed, I just needed to know what all is required. Only one parts store can get me the cables to tune of 70 for all.
