i have a 92 z28 with factory 4 wheel disc brakes, what is the rubber mounted weight attached to the e-brake cable bracket for, it is to the rear of the back brakes and is about 2 and a half inches in diameter, and about 1 and a half inches thick, can it be moved or removed, what does it do , is it OE? Please help, trying to get 11 inch wheels

Re: can someone identify this part
I understand it to be some kind of vibration dampener as it's got a rubber insert around the large center bolt. I see no real point to it and I remove it from all rear calipers I use. Just added weight to me, feel free to pull it.

I found this on Shoebox's page. Number 90. http://shbox.com/1/rr_disc_brake_assy.jpg
It says it is a dampener. I don't know what it does, but my car doesn't have them anymore. I took them off when I put my LCA relocation brackets on. My parking brake still works fine

Re: can someone identify this part
They'll have no effect on the PB as mentioned above, they only bolt to the bracket and don't contact anything so they can go. Remove them and reinstall a 1" long 7/16" bolt and nut in their place.
