changing rear disk to drum brakes
I just got a ford 9" rear with drums & my car came with disc brakes. What will i have to do to make the brakes work??????

Re: changing rear disk to drum brakes
you'll need a disc/drum proportioning valve with a residual pressure valve in it. otherwise the brake springs will overcome the pressure in the wheel cylinders and cause the rear brakes to "lag" or not engage at all....it would be easier to get a bracket or fab one to mount your caliper and redrill the axles(if they are still ford pattern) and mount your rotors on the diff.
i actually swapped to rear disc with my 9" so if you have a little welding skill it's pretty easy.

Thanks for getting back, As you can tell i don't know anything about this. Can i get this valve at a parts store or a junk yard and were do you mont the valve???. Is the car better with disc brakes or will the new ford brakes be ok.

Do a search with ebmiller88 I think he makes brakets that will bolt on your stock brakes to your 9''.
Re: changing rear disk to drum brakes
junk yard or maybe the dealer with have the stock valve....just follow the lines from the master cyl to the lower framerail and swap it out...look for a car same year with rear drum btw.
in my opinion, disc is much better than drum for 2 reasons, less fade after repeated stops....and ease of replacement. another thing is you will have to either get ford pattern wheels for the rear or redrill the axles and drums to your pattern and redrill drums everytime you replace one...
