please help

before i begin, i have an 84 camaro with drums in the rear and no posi.

i recently discovered my front to rear hardline blew up and is leaking badly.

i happen to have a posi disk rear out of an 86 camaro sitting in my garage.

people keep complaining about the disks that come on these cars and im curious if they are still better than my current drums, and if the same hardline would fit if i were to swap the rears? also, do they sell a nice front to rear hardline prebent and such?

i know i wouldnt have an e brake for a bit, but i dont have much of one right now anyway.

Re: please help

you dont need to salvage one
go to auto zone etc and buy a length of hardline they come with ends on them, buy the closest length one you need

the one running along the frame to the rear axle is 1/4"

the ones on the axle tubes are 3/16"

you bend it how you need it to be bent

this is VERY simple

the hard part is removing the rusted old tubing

alot of the times we just run the new one next to the old one

i cut the old one with tin snips

if you want to make the length perfect then you can get a 15 dollar double flaring kit from auto zone etc and change the length

easy

i cant understand why ppl are so damn scared to buy a line from the store and bend it

and save money and time and so on

pre bent is for wusses/newbies/scaredy cats

good luck

Those discs have a bad reputation, but in my experience, with the fix kit in place they work quite well--at least I had no difficulties with them (of course, you could go for PBR's:

Here are few companies that sell pre-bent for us wusses/newbies/scaredy cats:

I must fall into this category then....

The replacement AZ lines are convenient and will work for you, yes. What this poster fails to realize is that the lines from an aftermarket vendor (I use Fine Lines) will look better than the AZ green replacement lines, will have the bends in all the right places, and also come with the factory "armor guard" spiral windings to protect the lines. For around $30 the prebent lines are well worth it. Trust me on that one.

Re: please help

Please post a link to which site you are using for those numbers, it'll help. Front and rear will be different. Are you wanting a full set of new brake lines or just the axle and braided flex lines?
