9 BOLT or 10 BOLT
i have a 10bolt drum on my 1989 IROC and want to upgrade to disc brakes. I picked up a 10bolt disc at the junkyard, thinking i could just swap parts. 2 weeks later i found a 9bolt disc at the junk yard. I also picked that up, and now i dont know which one to use? should i go 9 or 10? or keep the original and us EBMILLER brackets to do a swap only?

9 bolt is stronger, but harder to get parts for. Parts are out there, no doubt, just can't get everything for them anywhere.

Re: 9 BOLT or 10 BOLT
I have a 9 bolt from my car i pulled out, its just laying in my back yard. Works great but i wanted to put a bigger gear in it, couldnt find jack for it. But its free for the taking, 3.27 limited slip. If your wanting parts for yours.
But 10 bolt is like the camaro there a dime a dozen. Jegs, Summit, you name it has the parts...

Re: 9 BOLT or 10 BOLT
The 9 bolt biggest issue is its a cone type design, and very sensitive to care. If its not cared for it will wear out very quickly as the cones wear normally. Which is why most 9 bolts go, the cones have worn down and need to either be shimmed or replaced. I've got one, I like it, its strong, and you don't have to worry about axles falling out because the c-clip failed. It was worn when I got it though and will only kick the back end out in a left turn, in a right turn the inside tires spins badly.
